92. Watch Cowboy Bebop series
Completed: 9 December 2011
It is the year 2071, fifty years after the explosion of an experimental hyperspace gateway damaged the Moon, resulting in repeated meteor bombardments on the Earth. This wiped out a large portion of the human population and rendered much of the planet uninhabitable, and several of the other planets and moons in the Solar System have since been colonized. Our heroes are cowboys, the modern term for bounty hunters, aboard the spaceship "Bebop". Most of the episodes are self-contained stories of various bounties, though occasionally a bit of character backstory pops up.
I'd seen the movie and a smattering of episodes here and there, and I knew more or less how it ended (in no small part thanks to the brilliant music video my husband made), but I wanted to actually experience the entire story from start to finish. So I did.
Ein remains my favorite character, and I often had to stop and puzzle over the random stuff Ed spouted, and I marveled at Faye's gravity-defying clothing. And, in all, I really liked it. I'm not sure it's something I'd watch multiple times, though. No, I take that back. I'd watch the first two thirds of the series many times; the last few are just too depressing to rouse my interest too often.
