17. Take down satellite dish
Completed 30 October 2010

The foe lies vanquished.
This thing has been here since before we moved in. The only reason I haven't brained myself on it more than once is because I'm hardly ever in the backyard. But the fact remains that the thing is a hazard and an eyesore - and we don't even have (or want) DirecTV anyway. It's one of those things that I've wanted to do for a long time but knew I'd never get around to unless I forced myself. Just like the flower pots and the bird feeder. Sure, it didn't take long, but now it's done and I am happy.

The offending bracket mount.
There were actually two mounts for it, and we removed them both. Then we caulked the nail holes and washed the wood underneath.

Post-wash and pre-caulk, but I assure you it was gorgeous afterward.
As an added bonus, my parents also pulled down the miles of coaxial cable and the rusty staples that held them in place. Awesome.
