Thing 86 - Hops - Complete!
Jun. 8th, 2011 11:22 am86. Visit ten new restaurants
Date completed: 7 June 2011
My plane landed at DCA just about right at 5pm, so my husband and I decided to wander down Route 1 into Alexandria a bit to find a place to eat dinner while we waited out some of the traffic. I saw Hops and decided to give it a shot.
Our waitress was a little slow on the uptake; I tried to order the Half Club and Half Salad, but instead she gave me an entire salad and entire club. I dunno. It was reasonably tasty, if rather generic. None of the larger entrees really interested me: they all seemed to involve marsala sauce, shrimp, and/or spicy-hot coatings. My husband enjoyed his reuben. But what was really memorable was the appetizer that evidently comes with every meal: freshly made honey croissants. So tasty! I'd come back just for that. Hops is also a brewery but I didn't try any of their beer. Flying just doesn't put me in the mood for alcohol.
In short, it's decent American fare. Not worth the drive, but a fine choice if you're already in the area.
