11. Put up bird feeder

Completed 30 October 2010.

This is a minor thing that I just never got around to, and figured I'd probably never do it if I didn't make it one of my Things. My mom gave me the original feeder (she has so many her back yard usually resembles a scene from Snow White), so it's fitting that she helped me hang it. It’s near a turtle dove nest from last year; I hope it is discovered soon. It’s right in front of one of the cats’ favorite windows, so this is sure to be the most exciting thing that has ever happened ever.

17. Take down satellite dish

Completed 30 October 2010

The foe lies vanquished.

This thing has been here since before we moved in. The only reason I haven't brained myself on it more than once is because I'm hardly ever in the backyard. But the fact remains that the thing is a hazard and an eyesore - and we don't even have (or want) DirecTV anyway. It's one of those things that I've wanted to do for a long time but knew I'd never get around to unless I forced myself. Just like the flower pots and the bird feeder. Sure, it didn't take long, but now it's done and I am happy.

The offending bracket mount.

There were actually two mounts for it, and we removed them both. Then we caulked the nail holes and washed the wood underneath.

Post-wash and pre-caulk, but I assure you it was gorgeous afterward.

As an added bonus, my parents also pulled down the miles of coaxial cable and the rusty staples that held them in place. Awesome.

85. Attend 5 plays

Current progress: 1/5

We took my parents out to see Wonderful Town, a hilarious musical comedy put on by the Reston Community Players. My parents liked it so much they're going to try to get their own community theater group to perform it. I don't know how much of the rest of the season I'll see, but I'll definitely be at Moonlight & Magnolias this coming spring, as my husband is doing sound design.

20. Replace caulk in my shower

A work in progress.

This was technically completed back in August, but my dad (the Superman of home improvement) replaced the grout, caulk, and doors this past weekend. And now it is absolutely gorgeous.

It practically sparkles.

And I even got a new shower caddy!
