The Washington Monument closed after the earthquake last August and has not yet re-opened. This morning on the news they were saying that they don't expect to even start work until September and it will take 12-18 months to complete. So basically the monument will stay closed through the end of my 1001 days. Alas. If only I'd gotten to this Thing earlier. Oh well.
