I had a couple hours to kill before heading to a writer's block party so I popped by the Reston Zoo. When I first made this list, I'd envisioned this Thing as taking place at the National Zoo, but this was actually better because the crowds were much thinner so I was able to get closer to the animals. Since I hadn't planned ahead of time all I had was a ballpoint pen and the sketchbook that lives in my purse, and it's really difficult to sketch standing up no matter how small your notebook is, these aren't the best drawings. Still, I had a good time all the same.
